WHO WE ARE
Bee Field Projects was set up by a family that bought a small, flood prone field on the edge of a nature reserve during the Covid lockdown to escape from city life and do something tangible for nature. We wanted somewhere which we could keep going back to and be part of. We were inspired by large scale rewilders but do not have the resources or the expertise to do what they did. We grow food there, we camp there, we plant trees and dig ponds but mostly we have let it look after itself and we have witnessed an incredible transformation. This has given us a feeling that much more is possible.
Our second project is a much larger, previously arable field in a village in north Hertfordshire where one of us grew up. It has allowed us to apply some of what we have learned through Bee Field and to work on a much larger scale with the help of the Forestry Commission and the Woodland Trust to transform the field into a mixture of mixed native deciduous forest, open spaces and water. This project is inspired by childhood (and adult) yearning for more wildness in everyday life.
